German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stopped a proposed €3 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which had been pushed by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
Axar.az reports that this information was provided by "Der Spiegel" magazine, citing sources.
According to the source, the ministers wanted to provide new aid before the Bundestag elections scheduled for February 23.
The proposed aid, prepared by the Ministry of Defense, included three IRIS-T air defense systems, munitions for Patriot systems, ten wheeled howitzers, and artillery shells and the money itself was supposed to be passed through the Budget Committee of the Bundestag as additional expenses.
However, the Office of the Federal Chancellor stood in the way, where they unofficially made it clear that the next aid package would not be approved.
