Meta Corporation CEO Mark Zuckerberg has claimed that the Biden administration put pressure on Facebook to take down negative posts about Covid-19.

Axar.az reports that Zuckerberg revealed this during interview with the Joe Rogan.

He said on Friday that his company was repeatedly “pressured” by the White House to take down humorous content and truthful statements about the vaccine at the height of the pandemic.

Zuckerberg said his team responded: “No we’re not we’re not going to take down humour.”

He said that after Facebook declined the requests, “all these different agencies and branches of government just started investigating and coming after our company…it was brutal”.

It should be noted that Zuckerberg announced this week that Facebook would end its fact-checking programme, and instead allow users to post rebuttal of false content in a system modelled on “community notes” used by Elon Musk’s X.
