Greenland is striving for independence and does not want to belong to either the United States or Denmark.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the island's Prime Minister, Mute Egede, during a joint press conference with Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen.

Egede emphasized that while the island is open to cooperation with the U.S., its future will be determined by its local residents.

Frederiksen described Greenland's aspirations for independence as legitimate and understandable but acknowledged the U.S.'s interest positively. However, she reaffirmed Denmark's desire to keep Greenland within the kingdom.

Frederiksen added that Greenland is not for sale, though Denmark is open to collaborating with the U.S. in developing the island's resources. She also admitted that sufficient investment has not been made in the island's defense.
