Austin urges 50bln dollars boost in US defense spending

Outgoing U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has recommended a boost in U.S. military spending by approximately $50 billion by 2026.

Axar.az reports this information was published by Bloomberg.

Austin recommended President-elect Trump's incoming administration a proposed five-year defense plan.

He urged the administration to raise the military budget to $926.5 billion in 2026, $972.8 billion in 2027, and $1 trillion in 2028:

“"I have not wavered in my assessment that meeting the demands of our strategy requires real growth" above inflation "and sustained new investments in fiscal years 2026-2030,” Austin stated.
