Pope Francis has announced that Sister Raffaella Petrini will be appointed as the governor of Vatican City. Petrini will be the first woman to hold this position in history.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by "Vatican News."

It is reported that Petrini will begin her duties in March.

Since 2021, she has served as the Secretary General of the Vatican Governorate.

It is important to note that the person holding the governor's position is essentially regarded as the head of government, with powers akin to those of a prime minister, and governs the Vatican on behalf of the Pope.
