If Putin refuses to engage in talks to end the war, the likelihood of new sanctions being imposed on Russia is very high.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by U.S. President Donald Trump during a press briefing at the White House.

Trump stated that he expects to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon, and is ready to meet with him anytime the Russian side desires:

Trump also said that Ukraine President Zelensky told him that he would like to have peace but it takes two to tangle. We'll see what happens.

Trump also described Putin as smart person.

The U.S. president did not rule out continuing military assistance to Ukraine.
