Trump and Starmer promise to meet soon

Keir Starmer and Donald Trump discussed the importance of "close and warm ties" between Britain and the US and agreed to meet "soon".

Axar.az reports that during the talks, which lasted 45 minutes, Starmer congratulated Trump on his inauguration and praised him for his “role in securing the landmark ceasefire and hostages deal in Gaza,” as the pair discussed the “importance of working together for security in the Middle East.

Trump meanwhile welcomed the release of British-Israeli dual national Emily Damari who was freed a week ago by Hamas.

The two leaders also discussed trade and the economy, "with the prime minister setting out how we are deregulating to boost growth".

They agreed to meet soon and looked forward to further discussions then.
