Federal authorities in New York have launched their first large-scale raids against illegal immigrants.

Axar.az reports that the New York Post newspaper reported this, citing a statement from Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

The operations began on the night of January 28 in the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn, where more than 200 people were detained.

It was reported that biometric databases and social media monitoring were used during the arrests. The goal is to eliminate criminal groups that are in contact with illegal immigrants.
