The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects the British Embassy to provide full cooperation in the investigation of a criminal case related to the attack on a Russian journalist by a British diplomat and urges to respond promptly to further inquiries.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.

"For its part, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent an official note to the British diplomatic mission in Moscow, which, in particular, states: "The Ministry expects the Embassy to provide full cooperation to Russian law enforcement in the investigation of this criminal case, including the participation of Embassy staff in procedural actions... The Russian side urges the Embassy to respond promptly and appropriately to subsequent inquiries from law enforcement within the framework of this investigation and not to avoid participation in investigative activities," she said.

Zakharova emphasized the actions of diplomats from some Western countries toward representatives of Russian media not only go far beyond diplomatic norms but also fundamentally do not correspond to the high status of a diplomat from a foreign state.

It is worth noting that in October of last year, at Vnukovo Airport, a woman asked an "inconvenient question" to a British diplomat, which caused him to shove her forcefully and tear off the "Press" badge from the cameraman.
