Putin: Ceasefire must ensure peace

Russia agrees with the proposals to cease hostilities, but they must lead to long-term peace and eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis.

Axar.az reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin said this at a joint press conference with his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko.

“We agree with the proposals to cease hostilities, but it must lead to long-term peace and eliminate the root causes of the crisis,” the head of state said. It should be noted that Ukraine accepted the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire at a meeting in Jeddah on March 11.
