16 police injured in protests against Imamoglu's arrest

During protests against the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, 16 police officers were injured.

Axar.az informs this was reported by Turkiye’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya.

"A total of 53 people have been detained for violating Law No. 2911, damaging public property, and resisting police officers performing their duties," he stated.

According to the minister, 326 social media users, including 72 abroad, have been identified for allegedly inciting public hatred and enmity or encouraging criminal activity. Of these, 54 have been arrested, while investigations into others are ongoing.

It should be noted that 106 people, including Imamoglu, have been charged with corruption and supporting terrorism. So far, 88 have been arrested, while others remain at large.
