A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Afghanistan, near the border with Pakistan.

Axar.az informs the report was released by the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The epicenter was located approximately 14 km from the Pakistani border and 89 km north of the Afghan city of Asadabad.

Due to the intensity of the tremors at the epicenter, the earthquake was classified as “destructive.”

It’s worth noting that the U.S. Geological Survey assessed the magnitude at 5.6 and reported the quake’s depth at 99 km.
