The European Commission (EC) intends to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the power outage in Spain.

Axar.az informs that European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jorgensen said this on the “X” social network.

“The European Commission will launch a comprehensive investigation into the power outages in Spain and Portugal,” the European official wrote.

Earlier, European Commission representative Paula Pinault confirmed that the agency had ruled out a cyberattack as the cause of the massive power outages on April 28 and promised to study all the consequences and origins of the crisis.

According to a source in the European Commission, the incident in Spain and Portugal is classified as the third category of EU energy incidents, the highest - the third. This means that the EC must convene a panel of experts, including network operators from Spain and Portugal, who must submit a detailed report on the causes and all the details of this incident within six months.
