Tehran expects active steps from Russia following the recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
Axar.az reports this was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei.
“We have longstanding friendly relations… Undoubtedly, the events in the region are significant for Russia as a key player on the international stage. [...] Russia is a member of the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] and the Security Council. Certainly, developments in the region are important to Russia," Baghaei noted following the recent visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Moscow.
"As a country that has a strategic partnership agreement with Russia, we have specific expectations from this country, so this trip is a very important one,” he explained.
