Honored artist Raziya Shirinova dies at 86

Honored artist and singer Raziya Shirinova has passed away at the age of 86.

Axar.az informs that her family confirmed the news to APА.

Born in 1940, Shirinova was a member of the “Lale” girls’ ensemble and served as a soloist at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic from 1964 to 1970. In 1980, she joined the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater as a soloist, where she worked until 2005. During her career, she performed leading roles in productions such as Asli and Kerem (Asli), Ashiq Garib (Shahsanem), Shah Ismail (Arebzangi), Bride Rock (Tutu), and Leyli and Majnun (Majnun’s mother), among others.

In recognition of her contributions to Azerbaijan’s cultural life, she was awarded the Presidential Individual Pension in 2005 and was named an “Honored Artist” in 2006.
