At the 97th Academy Awards, Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, while accepting the Best Documentary Oscar for No Other Land, criticized U.S. foreign policy for hindering a political solution in the Middle East.

Axar.az, citing BBC, reports that the Oscar winner stated that U.S. policy was "helping to block" the path towards peace and called for national rights for both Israelis and Palestinians.

Abraham also condemned the destruction in Gaza and called for the release of Israeli hostages taken during Hamas's October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

The film, which follows the struggle over Masafer Yatta, an area in the occupied West Bank, highlights the harsh conditions faced by Palestinians.

Co-winner Basel Adra expressed hope for a better future for his daughter, free from violence and displacement. The win came amidst a fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
