Russia declares Elton John Aids Foundation undesirable

Russian prosecutors recognized the activity of two non-profits with links to musician Sir Elton John as undesirable in Russia.

Axar.az reports citing TASS, first established in the United States in 1992, the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) was registered in the United Kingdom in 1993. Both were founded by Sir Elton John, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said.

While the two organizations support HIV prevention and fight discrimination against HIV-infected people, "they mostly focus on promoting non-traditional sex, Western-type family models, and gender reassignments," the Prosecutor General’s Office explained.

According to Russia’s prosecutors, the British non-profit organization collaborates closely with non-profits that act as foreign agents.
