One dead after violent protests in southern Iran

One person was killed and another six injured in clashes with police in Iran’s southern Fars province.

A plan by authorities to divide the city of Karezun sparked demonstrations in the city late Wednesday, Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported.

Violence erupted during the demonstrations with protesters attacking and torching a police station.

Protesters shared videos on social media in which shooting can be heard.

One person was killed and six others injured in the confrontations, on which the Iranian authorities have yet to comment.
