Air traffic at Morocco airports up 9.6 pct in Q1

The number of passengers traveling through Moroccan airports reached 5.6 million in the first quarter of 2019, up 9.6 percent year on year, the Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) said Monday.

Morocco's biggest airport, Casablanca international airport, received 2.2 million passengers, nearly 40 percent of total air traffic between January and March, ONDA said in a statement.

The number of passengers passing through the airports of tourist hubs of Marrakech and Agadir increased by 20 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

In March alone, over two million people traveled through Moroccan airports, an increase of 10.5 percent compared to the same month last year, according to ONDA.

In 2018, the number of passengers at Moroccan airports hit a record of 22.5 million, 10.4 percent increase year on year.
