Avalanche sweeps away Anadolu Agency reporter in Turkey

An Anadolu Agency correspondent went missing after he was swept away by an avalanche in northeast Turkey on Friday, the agency reported.

Axar.az reports Abdulkadir Nisanci, the agency correspondent, was covering the road construction works on Mount Soganli, located between northeastern Bayburt and Trabzon provinces, at the altitude of 3,500 meters.

Nisanci slid down the hill when the mass of snow he stepped on broke loose at Derebasi Curves area, which is known as one of the most dangerous curves in the world.

Teams of the state-run Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and paramedics were dispatched to the area.
