Azerbaijan ratifies organ trafficking convention

On May 26, Azerbaijan completed the process of ratifying the Council of Europe (CoE) Convention against Trafficking in Human Organs.

Axar.az reports that the Council of Europe website released the information.

"Azerbaijan has become the 16th country to accede to the Convention. The document will enter into force on September 1, 2026," the statement reads.

Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Bjorn Berge congratulated Azerbaijan on the ratification of the Convention.

"Congratulations to Azerbaijan and Ambassador Fakhraddin Ismayilov on the ratification of the CoE Convention against Trafficking in Human Organs. Thank you for your commitment to strengthening human rights and international cooperation," Bjorn wrote on his X account.
