WUF13 highlights housing in crisis recovery

On May 21, an event titled “Housing at the Centre of Crisis Recovery and Reconstruction” was held as part of the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13).

Axar.az informs that the event explored why housing should be placed at the centre of crisis response, recovery and reconstruction efforts in cities affected by conflicts, climate shocks and natural disasters. When homes are destroyed, the loss goes beyond physical structures and affects safety, dignity, livelihoods and social cohesion.

Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend districts, participated in the session.

The session also examined how governments, communities and the private sector can rebuild homes and neighbourhoods at scale, while protecting housing, land and property rights.
