Azerbaijani delegation on a working visit to Turkiye attended the Distinguished Visitors Day of “EFES-2026” multinational joint exercise held in Doganbey area of Izmir.
Axar.az reports, citing the Ministry of Defense, Commander of the Land Forces of the Republic of Turkiye, Army General Metin Tokel delivered a briefing on the overall course of the exercise, the objectives of the assigned tasks, and the sequence of their execution.
“EFES-2026” exercise features the first-time use of T625 GOKBEY helicopters, 105 mm BORAN towed howitzers, MEMATT mine-clearing systems, KARAOK, UMTAS, and L-UMTAS anti-tank missile systems, as well as ASLAN SARP UKKS unmanned ground-based reconnaissance and fire support systems.
Addressing the event, the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkiye, Mr. Yashar Guler emphasized the significance of such exercises and extended his best wishes for success to the participating servicemen.
In his address, President of the Republic of Turkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed the participants of the Distinguished Visitors Day and emphasized that “EFES-2026” exercise makes a significant contribution to regional and global peace, security, and stability.
Following this, the units involved in the exercise accomplished various tactical scenarios.
The high-level visitors then observed demonstration flights by aviation assets, parachute jumps performed by special operations personnel, and performances by the Mehteran Unit.
Guests attending the Defense Industry Exhibition organized within the Distinguished Visitors Day viewed the exhibited military weapons and equipment.
The professionalism demonstrated by the Azerbaijan Army servicemen participating in the international exercise was highly appreciated.
