Rossbach: Azerbaijan shows exceptional commitment at WUF13

Azerbaijan demonstrated resilience, vision and exceptional commitment at the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

Axar.az informs, citing Repоrt, that Anaclaudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said this at the closing ceremony of WUF13 in Baku.

"Azerbaijan demonstrated resilience, vision and exceptional commitment. You showed the world not only the ability to build, but also the ability to restore and transform," she said.

According to her, housing markets are clearly failing to meet people's needs. Billions of people are living in inadequate, unsafe and unaffordable conditions.

"As we mark the halfway point in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, the message from Baku is clear: the next decade must be defined by accelerated implementation, scaling up results and tangible impact on people's lives. We need collective action based on people-centred urban development," Rossbach said.
