The conflict was resolved by us unilaterally.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during a meeting with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Yusif bin Ahmad Al-Osaymi on April 8.

"As you know, the conflict has been resolved unilaterally by us. The 44-day war has put an end to the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani lands, which has affected more than a million Azerbaijanis and completely destroyed our towns and villages. Now foreign journalists and diplomats visit the liberated territories. They see that the Armenians have destroyed everything. All cities, all villages, historical and religious sites, mosques, cemeteries have been destroyed. This is a manifestation of Islamophobia, Azerbaijanophobia, vandalism, because, as I have said many times, our cities were destroyed not during the first Karabakh war.

It was a deliberate policy to erase all of Azerbaijan and the Islamic heritage from these historical lands of Azerbaijan and to change the origin of those lands. I know that the ambassadors, members of the contact group for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, recently visited the liberated territories and saw it with their own eyes. They made open statements, and we are very grateful for that. Now we want the whole world to see and understand that the steps we took were just, based on international law, the UN Charter, our right to self-defense and justice. We have restored justice. The aggressor was expelled from our lands and now is the time to recover.

But it will take time. Because, of course, the biggest problem is mines. After the war, we already had dozens of casualties, including mine deaths. Armenia did not give us a map of mines. This is another war crime. Because it is their duty to do so. However, despite the fact that the war has been over for months, they continue this policy against Azerbaijanis. But we will do everything necessary. The demining process is underway. We are already planning reconstruction. The master plans of cities and villages are already being prepared, and of course we want our brothers from the Islamic world to come and see what they have done to our historical heritage and the process of reconstruction. Of course, I would be glad to see you in the future, even after we start the reconstruction process," the President said.
