Erdogan thanks Azerbaijan at OTS summit

Adopting the vision of a “digitalizing Turkic world” is of great importance.

Axar.az reports, citing APА, that this was told by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States.

“I consider it a very correct step that our summit is being held under the theme of artificial intelligence and digital development. In terms of shaping the future, it is of great importance that we adopt the vision of a ‘digitalizing Turkic world.’ After 115 years, it is now time to add the concept of ‘unity in digital vision’ to Gaspirali’s slogan ‘unity in language, thought, and action.’ This vision should be built on qualified human resources, strong digital infrastructure, and data-based public administration, while digital connections between us should be further strengthened. The preparation of joint technology projects among our countries will undoubtedly support this vision.

We are aware that falling behind in the process of digital transformation may also pose a threat to our independence. We must approach the issue correctly and regard artificial intelligence as a window of opportunity so that it does not turn into a different kind of tool. We must also remain constantly vigilant against the new risks created by artificial intelligence technologies. New-generation threats targeting our databases and critical national infrastructures are among the aspects of digital transformation that must be managed carefully.

I believe that these fertile lands, which produced Al-Khwarizmi, the founder of algebra and algorithms, Al-Farabi, one of the geniuses of philosophy and logic, Ibn Sina, whose works illuminated medical science, and Biruni, Ulugh Beg, and Ali Qushchi, pioneers of astronomy, will also raise new scientists,” the Turkish President noted.

Erdogan also thanked Azerbaijan during his speech.

“I will be pleased to welcome you to Ankara at the next summit meeting. Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank dear Azerbaijan, the current chair of our organization, for its contributions to the unity of our family council. I would also once again express my gratitude to my dear brother, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for the magnificent hospitality. I already congratulate you on the blessed Eid al-Adha holiday,” the Turkish President said.
