Israel and Lebanon agree to extend ceasefire for 45 days

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 45-day extension of a ceasefire that U.S. President Donald Trump declared on April 16.

Axar.az reports, citing CNBC, that the U.S. State Department spokesperson, Tommy Pigott, made a statement.

“The April 16 cessation of hostilities will be extended by 45 days to enable further progress,” State Department spokesman Tommy Piggott said.

According to him, the two sides agreed on a framework to advance lasting peace, mutual recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stronger security arrangements along their shared border.

The ceasefire regime introduced on April 16 will be extended by 45 days to allow continued progress in security coordination and communication between the parties, with further discussions scheduled for June 2–3.

Earlier, reports indicated that notable progress had been achieved in the security track between Israel and Lebanon.
