Macron: Russia must pay for its aggression

French President Emmanuel Macron has condemned Russia's latest missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region, accusing Moscow of deliberately targeting civilians.

Axar.az reports that in a post on X, Macron described the strikes as "a campaign of terror" carried out with missiles and drones, calling the attacks "unacceptable."

"Every new attack reinforces one undeniable fact: Russia must pay the price for its aggression and answer for its crimes," Macron wrote, adding that France would continue to stand with Ukraine and would "yield neither to fatigue nor to intimidation."

Macron also said the European Union and its partners would continue increasing pressure on Russia, including through new sanctions, while strengthening military support for Ukraine to help it defend itself and protect its people.

It should be noted that a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack on the Kyiv region during the night of August 5 killed 17 civilians and injured 44 others.
