Russia has not received formal Turkish truce proposal

Russia has not received a formal request from Turkiye through official channels for a moratorium on military operations in the Black Sea.

Axar.az reports that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made the statement in response to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s remarks about Turkiye’s proposal for Russia and Ukraine to introduce a moratorium on military operations in the Black Sea.

“We traditionally pay close attention to all peace initiatives coming from our foreign partners, especially Turkiye, which is an important regional player and our neighbor in the Black Sea,” Zakharova said.

“The Russian side has not received a formalized Turkish request specifying the terms of this initiative through official channels,” she added.

It should be noted that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan previously said that Turkiye had conveyed its proposals for a moratorium on military operations in the Black Sea to both Russia and Ukraine.
