Zelensky calls on Russia to halt airstrikes ahead of talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Russia to temporarily halt airstrikes while U.S. representatives hold talks in Moscow and Kyiv in the coming days.

Axar.az reports that Zelensky stated on his Telegram channel that Ukraine was preparing for the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump’s representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are expected to travel to Moscow and then Kyiv.

“We will ensure the normal functioning of Russian airspace so that the negotiators can arrive safely,” Zelenskyy said. “Russia must reciprocally ensure silence without its airstrikes for the time needed to conduct these negotiations and resolve the logistical issues related to this U.S. visit.”

It should be noted that US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will visit Kyiv on September 6.
