Death toll from Turkiye mine collapse rises to 5

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said that the death toll from a mine collapse in the Soma district of Turkiye’s Manisa province has risen to five.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that a total of seven miners were trapped under the rubble. Two were rescued alive: one is receiving treatment in a hospital, while the other was discharged after receiving the necessary medical care.

It should be noted that the accident occurred on October 1. The cause of the incident remains unknown. Following the accident, nine people, including the mine’s general manager, were arrested.
