Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court has announced its decision on a motion to extend the pretrial detention of the country’s second president, Robert Kocharyan, by two months.
Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that presiding judge Vardges Stepanyan announced the court’s decision on October 23.
It should be noted that the court had previously extended the detention of Robert Kocharyan’s son, Sedrak Kocharyan, by two months as well.
In August 2026, Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office initiated criminal proceedings against Robert Kocharyan on nine counts related to abuse of power, bribery and money laundering.
On August 27, a court ordered the former president to be held in pretrial detention for two months.
