Eisenkot’s bloc leads Netanyahu in Israel election polls

Voting in Israel’s parliamentary elections held today ended just minutes ago, at 22:00 local time (00:00 Baku time), and polling stations have closed. The election saw high voter turnout.

Axar.az reports, citing the Jerusalem Post, that Netanyahu’s bloc won 50 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, while the Eisenkot (anti-Netanyahu) bloc secured 53 seats.

The results of the exit poll conducted by Channel 13 are identical: 50 seats for Netanyahu’s bloc and 53 for Eisenkot’s bloc.

Channel 12, meanwhile, reports that Netanyahu’s bloc won 50 seats, while Eisenkot’s bloc secured 52.

Thus, neither bloc has secured the minimum 61 seats required to form a government, as was already evident from pre-election polls.

The key issue, however, is the Arab party. According to exit polls, it won 17 seats in the Knesset. The Arab party is expected to support Eisenkot’s bloc. In that case, Eisenkot would form the new government, and Netanyahu would be ousted from power.
