Ukraine is negotiating with Sweden regarding the supply of Saab JAS-39 "Gripen" fighters within the framework of military assistance.
Axar.az reports that Igor Zhovkva, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said this in an interview with "Voice of America" radio.
According to him, the topic of Gripen supply to Ukraine was regularly raised by the country's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy during talks with Swedish officials, but Stockholm was not ready to make any promises before joining NATO.
It should be recalled that at the beginning of this year, the Swedish parliament supported the supply of Gripen fighters to Ukraine. But in late May, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson announced that his country was suspending plans to supply Gripen to Ukraine to focus on the delivery of F-16s.
