An unfortunate kayaker who was rafting in New Zealand will remember his trip for a long time. A feisty sea mammal gave him a surprise open tentacle slap with an equally shocked octopus.

Axar.az reports citing Sputnik.

A seal with an octopus in his mouth suddenly emerged from the water and used in to smack a passing kayaker. Judging by his reaction, the perplexed paddler did not immediately understand what had happened.

However, the cephalopod cannily assessed the tense situation — he grabbed the bottom of the boat with his tentacles, so as not to become prey for the perturbed pinniped.
