Elton John rescheduled his Las Vegas shows this weekend to take place earlier in the month. And now, we know why. It has been reported that the Rocket Man singer will be performing at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding.

According to TMZ, Elton will be performing at Saturday’s wedding, although it is unclear whether he’ll be singing at the church ceremony or later in the night. Considering Ellie Goulding provided the vocals for Wills and Kate’s first dance, we’re guessing the latter.
Elton, 71, previously played coy about his part in the royal wedding, claiming he hadn’t even been invited. He told the Mirror back in March that he’d be willing to perform for Harry and Megan ‘if they asked me to – but I haven’t been asked to the wedding yet. ‘I would love to be at the wedding to see them because I think they are happy. I know they are so happy.’ However, rumours swirled that Elton would play a big part in the wedding when he rescheduled two performances of his The Million Dollar Piano show at Las Vegas’s Caesars Palace on 18 May and 19 May to 6 May and 16 May.
Elton has a long history with the royal family, having worked closely with Princess Diana to raise money for AIDS research. He famously performed Candle In The Wind at Diana’s funeral in 1997, and has been close with William and Harry ever since their mum’s death. Elton wrote a tribute to Harry after he was named as one of Time magazine’s most influential people this year, saying: ‘Harry and I have bonded over a passionate desire to end the global AIDS epidemic, a disease for which his mother did so much important early work to fight stigma and build awareness. ‘He is equally passionate when it comes to reducing the stigma surrounding mental-health issues—blowing a much-needed breath of fresh air into the British stuffiness that has kept vital conversations lurking in the shadows.’
The legendary singer added: ‘Prince Harry has that rare ability to walk into a room full of strangers and make everyone feel comfortable and at ease. As he has grown in maturity, I have watched him take on these causes with the remarkable skill to see and communicate how it truly feels for the people he is trying to help.’ Harry and Meghan will tie the knot this Saturday at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. A host of stars are expected to attend, including Priyanka Chopra, a number of Meghan’s Suits castmates and three members of the Spice Girls.
