Armed heist hits Paris’ Louvre Museum

A robbery occurred at the Louvre Museum in the morning of October 19.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati.

"The robbery took place this morning at the Louvre. I am at the scene with museum staff and the police. An investigation is currently underway," the minister said.

According to the newspaper "Le Parisien", several thieves broke the windows of the museum and managed to escape after stealing jewelry.

The perpetrators of the incident are reported to be armed.

The Louvre administration has closed the museum to the public.

Thieves broke into the museum's Apollo gallery and stole nine items from Napoleon's collection of jewels.

A broken crown belonging to Empress Eugénie de Montijo, wife of Emperor Napoleon III, has been found near the Louvre, according to French media reports.
