Filming of the Azerbaijan-based scenes for “God’s Weapons 4: Ultimatum” has been successfully completed. The project is the largest foreign film production ever carried out in Azerbaijan.
Axar.az reports, citing the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency, that attracting foreign film producers to the country is one of the key directions of the policy defined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of cinema. One of the objectives of the decree “On Certain Issues Related to the Production of Cinematographic and Other Audiovisual Works in the Territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” signed by the head of state on May 29, 2025, was to attract foreign film producers to the country. To this end, various mechanisms were envisaged, including a “cash rebate” mechanism providing for the reimbursement of part of the expenses incurred by foreign film producers.
Over the past year, intensive work has been carried out to address the issues arising from the decree. The Azerbaijan Film Commission, established by the Ministry of Culture to promote film production in the country, has been promoting the new opportunities offered by Azerbaijan to foreign film producers. The initial results of these efforts are already evident.
The successful completion of filming for the Azerbaijan-based portion of “God’s Weapons 4: Ultimatum” was made possible in large part through the coordinated efforts of various government agencies under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture, including the Ministries of Digital Development and Transport, Internal Affairs, Emergency Situations, and other institutions. In total, 26 official organizations worked together to support the film crew.
The smooth progress and successful completion of the filming process will help make Azerbaijan an attractive destination for other international film production projects as well. This, in turn, will increasingly draw the attention of the global film industry to the country.
The implementation of global projects in Azerbaijan also has a positive impact on the development of the local film industry. More than 200 local professionals and dozens of local companies were involved in the production of “God’s Weapons 4: Ultimatum.” Such projects enable local film professionals to gain experience and strengthen international cooperation.
Filming global blockbusters in the country is highly effective in promoting Azerbaijan internationally, including expanding its tourism potential. Once the film is released, tens of millions of Jackie Chan’s fans around the world, particularly in Southeast Asian countries, will be encouraged to discover Azerbaijan as a new tourist destination.
Following the completion of filming for the Azerbaijan-based portion of “God’s Weapons 4: Ultimatum,” Jackie Chan met with representatives of government agencies and companies that supported the production. The actor personally thanked all the institutions for their support and presented them with commemorative gifts.
