Turkish comedian Yilmaz hospitalized after heart attack

Turkish comedian Cem Yilmaz has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack at his home in Canakkale.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Yilmaz, 53, was taken to a hospital after experiencing chest pain and underwent an angiography.

Doctors inserted a balloon and stent through his wrist in a procedure that lasted about 40 minutes.

Prof. Dr. Ercan Aksit, who performed the procedure, said Yilmaz had suffered a major heart attack but was conscious when he arrived and is currently in stable condition.

"He is currently conscious. His angiography went very well," Aksit said, adding that Yilmaz would remain under observation for two days.

Turkiye's Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu said Yilmaz's general condition was good and that his treatment was continuing in the coronary intensive care unit.

Yilmaz's brother, Can Yilmaz, also said his condition was good and thanked those who had expressed their concern and sent their well wishes.
