Yefim Abramov, a director and screenwriter and a member of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, has died.

Axar.az reports that the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan made the announcement.

Abramov was born in Baku on August 14, 1948. In 1980, he graduated from the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, where he studied under directors Ilya Talankin and Georgiy Daneliya.

He worked as a director at the Azerbaijanfilm studio from the 1980s through the 1990s.

Abramov directed films in various genres, including Don't Be Afraid, I'm with You (1981), The Painful Roads (1982), as second director, Old People (1982), co-directed with Elkhan Gasimov, The Meddler (1987), for which he also wrote the screenplay, and Latifa (1989), co-directed with Nizami Musayev.

He also co-wrote the screenplay for the 2004 television series Under the Sky of Verona, a Russian-Israeli production directed by Vladimir Krasnopolsky and Valery Uskov.
