Russia holds events commemorating Magomayev

The city of Vyshny Volochyok, Tver province, Russia has inaugurated a street and unveiled a bas-relief commemorating Muslim Magomayev on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the late singer`s birth.

Addressing the ceremony, Aleksandr Borisov, mayor of the city, said that both Azerbaijan and Russia are proud of Muslim Magomayev as the world-renowned singer considered both countries to be his motherland.

Azerbaijanis living in Vyshny Volochyok described Muslim Magomayev as a unique person. They also said that his home museum in Vyshny Volochyok would soon be restored.
