Food Safety Agency talks cost certificates agricultural goods

The high cost of certificates for agricultural products in Azerbaijan is related to the cost of the components used for the examination, said Goshgar Tahmazli, chairperson of Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency.

Axar.az reports citing Trend.

He was speaking at a conference dedicated to the results of the implementation of the State Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Azerbaijani Districts in 2014-2018.

He noted that the cost of examination of one pesticide and toxicological analyzes is 170 manats. Earlier, before the creation of the agency, the examination of agrochemical preparations cost 10 manats, he said.

The current state duty (120 manats) is set not for getting profit, but to cover a part of the cost of the examination, he added.

Thus, the price for holding the examination to obtain a certificate in Azerbaijan is lower than its prime cost, he said, noting that in the neighboring countries, this cost is much higher.
