The official opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan House was held in the North York district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Axar.az reports that the committee told that at the opening ceremony, employees of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, Azerbaijan's Chargé d'affaires in Canada Vasif Abutalibov, representatives of the Canadian government and parliament, the Turkish consul general, representatives of the local community, Indian, Uzbek and Jewish communities, Azerbaijani diaspora organizations leaders and activists participated.
After the opening ribbon was cut, the national anthems of Canada and Azerbaijan were played. After that, the dear memory of our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Tony Ruprecht, former Canadian minister of multiculturalism and former member of parliament, who moderated the event, emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan House in terms of preservation of national culture and transmission to the younger generation.
Then the Chairman of the State Committee on Diaspora Affairs Fuad Muradov congratulated our compatriots on the occasion of the opening of Azerbaijan House in Canada and evaluated this event as a manifestation of our state's attention and concern for our compatriots living abroad.
Speaker of the Canadian-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group Philip Lawrence, member of parliament Ali Ahsasi, member of local government Michael Tibollo, Consul General of Turkey in Toronto Sinem Mingan, regional head of the Gizilbash Global Heritage Council Arshi Gizilbash congratulated the Azerbaijani community on the important event and said that Azerbaijan House expressed their confidence that it will function effectively and play a major role in the growth of the young generation in a national and healthy spirit.
