A call from UNESCO about Azerbaijani dance

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) shared about Azerbaijan's national dance "Yalli" on its account on the "X" social network.

Axar.az reports that UNESCO has called for the protection of "Yalli".

"Yalli" dance embodies the essence of Azerbaijan's living heritage with its rhythmic steps and colourful costumes. "Yalli" was included in the Emergency Protection List in 2018. We must protect this tradition together," UNESCO said.

It should be noted that "Yalli" is one of the oldest types of dance in Azerbaijan. "Yalli ("Nomad", "Tanzare"), "Traditional group dances of Nakhchivan" at the 13th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Port Louis, the capital of the Republic of Mauritius, on November 26-December 1, 2018 was placed on the Urgent Protection List by the adopted decision.
