WHO warns of rapid spread of "Hong Kong Flu"

Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) have detected the rapid spread of the A(H3N2) virus, also known as the "Hong Kong flu".

Axar.az reports that this was stated in a statement by the Head of the Global Respiratory Threats Division of the WHO Department of Epidemiology and Pandemic Risk Management, Wentz Zhang.

According to him, the virus has already been detected in 30 countries around the world:

"With the onset of the winter season in the Northern Hemisphere, there is an increase in cases of infection with influenza and other respiratory viruses. However, the global level of influenza infection is still within the expected range for this season."

It should be noted that the A(H3N2) virus was first recorded in Australia and New Zealand.
