Uzbekistan president reviews Lukoil projects

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Lukoil founder Vahid Alekberov on October 6 to review the progress of the company’s projects in Uzbekistan.

Axar.az reports, citing Uzbekistan's President's press service, that Alekperov briefed Mirziyoyev on Lukoil’s ongoing projects in the country’s energy sector, including geological exploration, the development of promising hydrocarbon fields, and the expansion of its petroleum products retail network.

The sides also discussed plans to further expand Lukoil’s activities in Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that Lukoil has operated in Uzbekistan since 2004 and is one of the largest foreign investors in the country’s oil and gas sector. In partnership with Uzbekneftegaz, the company is implementing the Kandym-Khauzak-Shady and Southwest Gissar projects under production-sharing agreements. According to Lukoil, total gas production under these projects has reached 100 billion cubic meters, while the company’s investments in Uzbekistan have amounted to around $8 billion.
