The Turkish prime minister’s visit to Azerbaijan is very important for the development of relations between the two countries, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
He made the remarks at the press conference following the expanded meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim in Baku June 3.
President Aliyev expressed confidence that the new Turkish government will work together with the Azerbaijani government for further development of bilateral relations.
The head of state stressed that bilateral relations between the two countries stand at the highest level.
“I have visited Turkey thrice this year, taking into account mutual visits, totally we had five high-level visits,” Ilham Aliyev said, noting that it is hard to find two other countries that are as close as Azerbaijan and Turkey.
President Aliyev also underlined Turkey’s key role in the establishment of a contact group in the OIC for the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
