One Armenian soldier was killed and several others were wounded in a shootout on the border with Azerbaijan today.

Axar.az reports citing MoD that the Armenian Interior Ministry said the number of wounded had been determined.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry announced today that the enemy tried to fire on the positions of the Azerbaijani Army located in the Kalbajar region from 12:00 today.

"As a result of the response measures taken by our units in a short period of time, the opposite side was silenced and its provocative activities were stopped.

The operational conditions are under the control of our units," the statement said.

An Armenian soldier named Vage Manaseryan was killed and eight others were wounded in a shootout at the border. 6 of them are in critical condition.

The statement came from the Armenian Interior Ministry.
