On September 20, the UAZ Patriot car belonging to the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation was fired upon near the Janyatag settlement, and the military personnel of the peacekeeping contingent were tragically killed.

Axar.az reports that according to the information provided by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the investigative bodies of Azerbaijan and Russia are working in cooperation on the spot to investigate all the causes of the incident.

"We feel sorry for the incident, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, and the families and relatives of the fallen servicemen offer our deepest condolences, we ask for patience," the statement said.
