Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Association, Leyla Aliyeva, met with Robb Butler, Special Representative for Climate and Health of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe.
Axar.az reports that during the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva was presented with a special award from the World Health Organization for her effective services in the field of climate and health, active participation and awareness-raising activities within the framework of COP29, as well as support for the activities of the WHO Pan-European Health and Climate Commission.
During the conversation, detailed information was provided on the projects implemented by IDEA Public Association to reduce the negative impacts of climate change, and possible opportunities for cooperation between the WHO and Azerbaijan in this area were discussed.
The parties exchanged views on the potential impacts of the decline in the level of the Caspian Sea on the environment and human health, discussed the possibilities of strengthening joint initiatives and international calls in this direction, including the prospects for Azerbaijan's joining the WHO "Healthy Cities" network.
In addition, the impact of clean air on human health, the reduction of air pollution, and the strengthening of awareness-raising activities in this area were discussed.
